A record number of Brits fly with Emirates
  • Emirates has reported a record July from its six UK airports carrying more than 265,000 to Dubai and beyond. The Dubai-based airline is now on track to carry five million passengers between the UK and Dubai this year, with more than 140,000 passengers flying out of Heathrow and Gatwick, more than 48,000 from Manchester, 40,000 from Birmingham, 22,000 from Glasgow and 12,000 from Newcastle.

Beijing Capital Airlines set to launch London Heathrow service this winter
China's HNA Group is set to start another flight from the UK this winter with its new Beijing Capital Airlines service to Qingdao, the port city in China's Shandong province. The carrier will operate the flight using an Airbus A330 aircraft. It will be the first connection between London and Qingdao. Qingdao is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in China and with a population of well over 3 million, it is also one of the biggest cities in the Shandong Province.

Changi Airport's Terminal 4 to open on Oct 31
  • It has been announced that Changi Airport's Terminal 4 will open on Oct 31. The new terminal will feature a facial recognition system, centralised security screening, and start-to-end self-service options for check-in. Nine airlines - the AirAsia Group (which comprises four airlines), Cathay Pacific Airways, Cebu Pacific Air, Korean Air, Spring Airlines and Vietnam Airlines – will operate from the new terminal.
Dubai Airport launches free movies and TV streaming service for passengers
  • Dubai International Airport is to allow passengers to stream movies and TV shows on their laptops and smartphones using the airport's free Wi-Fi service, Wow-Fi. Passengers using the airport will be able to stream for free for up to 24hrs with no login or sign-in required. To use the service, travellers will simply need to download the IcFlix app for free and will then be able to stream the content as a premium user.
Ryanair announces fights to new destinations
  • Ryanair has plans in place to start new services to Munich, Stuttgart and Naples for the winter season. The airline will also operate new routes to Paphos, Cyprus and Marrakech, Morocco for summer 2018. Ryanair will operate a new double daily service to Munich and a new daily Stuttgart route during the upcoming winter. It will extend its five-times-a-week winter service to Naples into the summer and will add a further new twice weekly route to Paphos and Marrakech from March 2018.
Eurowings to launch new festive period flights to Berlin from Birmingham
  • Eurowings, the German low-cost carrier, will soon launch flights from Birmingham to Berlin for the festive season. It will be a twice weekly service and will operate from December 1 until January 7, 2018. An A320 aircraft, with 180 seats, will be used on the route. William Pearson, Aviation Director at Birmingham Airport, said: "It's fantastic to see Eurowings expanding its list of routes from Birmingham Airport to cater for the popular festive market."
Qantas to return to Changi for its Sydney-London flights
  • Australian flag carrier Qantas Airways has announced that from March next year it will reroute its daily Sydney to London A380 service to fly via Singapore instead of Dubai. The Australian carrier pulled out from Singapore's Changi airport in favour of Dubai five year ago. Qantas will also boost its Melbourne-Singapore service from 10 a week to 14, upgrading one of the daily flights on this route to an A380 from an A330.
Cathay Pacific to operate new Dublin-Hong Kong flights
  • Cathay Pacific, the flag carrier of Hong Kong, recently made an announcement that it will start a new direct Dublin-Hong Kong service four times per week from next June. It will be Dublin Airport’s first ever direct route to the Asia-Pacific region. "We are thrilled to welcome Cathay Pacific to Dublin Airport and to Ireland," said Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison. "This historic new route brings direct flights from Ireland to Hong Kong for the first time and also offers excellent onward connections via Cathay Pacific’s Hong Kong hub," he added.
Virgin Atlantic to offer Wi-Fi across its entire fleet
  • Virgin Atlantic recently became the first European airline to offer Wi-Fi across its entire fleet, making sure that its customers remain connected across flights to and from the US, Caribbean, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Passengers flying with Virgin Atlantic will now be able to email, and browse across the airline's fleet of nearly 40 aircraft. The airline is using a combination of Panasonic and Gogo technology for the Wi-Fi.
Qatar Airways launches premium dining service
  • Qatar Airways has launched a new pre-select dining service for premium passengers. The new service will allow the First Class and Business Class passengers to create personalized meals before boarding select long-haul flights from Doha. Initially, the new dining service will be available on flights to Europe, North America, South America, Australia and New Zealand. Qatar Airways plans to expand the service to other regions later in the year.
Homes2 Suites by Hilton Austin Airport opens for business
Home2 Suites by Hilton Austin Airport was recently opened in Austin, Texas. It is located at 1705 Airport Commerce Drive, in the southeastern part of the city. It is an all-suite hotel and features fully equipped kitchens and modular furniture as well as offers complimentary internet access to the guests. The hotel guests will also have access to a 24-hour business centre and barbecue grill area.
