Delta expands US-London service
  • Delta Air Lines will enhance the frequency of its flights from Detroit and Portland, Oregon to London from next summer. The airline will offer a twice-daily service from Detroit to Heathrow, while flights from Portland International airport will be a daily service.
    Roberto Ioriatti, VP – transatlantic at Delta, commented: "We hear from customers all over the US that access to London is very important to them. And Delta is happy to answer their needs by expanding additional choice through our Detroit hub with a second daily, and from the US West Coast at Portland through daily service next summer.".

British Airways announces Heathrow-Osaka flights
British Airways will start direct flights to Osaka, Japan from 31 March 2019. The service will operate between Heathrow Terminal 5 and Osaka Kansai International airport four times per week. BA's new B787-8 Dreamliner will be used to operate the route, and flyers will have the option of World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World seats. It will depart London at 1420 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and arrive in Osaka at 0950 the following day. The return flights will leave Osaka at 1130 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and land in London at 1550. BA will operate the route in code share with Japan Airlines.

EVA Air launches new 787 business class
  • EVA Air has launched new a business class in line with the delivery of its new Boeing 787-9/10 Dreamliner. While BMW’s Designworks has been engaged by the airline to design and style the seats and cabin, Thompson Aero Seating are supplying 23-inch wide Vantage XL seats, featuring 76-inch long flat-bed and 18-inch touchscreen high definition personal monitor. There will be 26 seats in EVA Air’s Royal Laurel Class (Business class) and 278 in economy.
The world's busiest airlines revealed
  • Data released by International Air Transport Association (IATA) has revealed the world’s busiest airlines, with American carriers flying more than any other. According to the report, American Airlines is the world’s busiest, carrying 324 million scheduled passenger kilometres in 2017, followed by Delta Air Lines which flew more than 316 million scheduled passenger kilometres. United Airlines is the third busiest, with 311 million. Emirates and US-based low cost Southwest Airlines complete the top five list of the world’s busiest airlines.
Emirates to offer new Boeing 777 business class seats on Adelaide-Dubai route
  • Business class flyers on Adelaide-Dubai route will enjoy Emirates' latest and wider business class seating from October 28. The airline’s revamped Boeing 777-200LR jet will replace its Boeing 777-300ER from October 28 to November 30 2018, as well as February 1 to April 15 2019. Boeing 777-300 will return to the route across December 2018 and January 2019 to cater to the higher passenger numbers during the holiday season.
British Airways plans to operate A380 to Dubai next year
  • British Airways is planning to fly an Airbus A380 on its London to Dubai route next spring. BA is introducing the superjumbo during the time when Dubai’s southern runway will be undergoing maintenance and will be closed for 45 days from April 16. The airline is taking advantage of A380’s superior capacity to carry as many passengers as possible during the runway closure. The daily flight BA107 will leave London Heathrow at 12:55pm arriving at Dubai International at 11:05pm; the return flight BA106 will leave at 1:30am to arrive in London at 6:15am.
Etihad lounge at Heathrow T4 rebranded
  • No1 Lounges will be managing Etihad’s lounge at Heathrow T4, rebranding the lounge as "The House – Home of Etihad Airways and Other Leading Airlines".
    The airline has been quoted by Business Traveller as stating: "Etihad Airways recently initiated a process of sourcing a reputable vendor to manage the airline's lounge offering at key locations outside Abu Dhabi, starting with London Heathrow".
    "No1 Lounges, a leading lounge services provider, was chosen as Etihad Airways' partner for this innovative project, known as 'The House – Home of Etihad Airways and Other Leading Airlines'.

    The lounge will be reconfigured to include new lounge areas, bar, dining room, and reading room. The new bar will have a comprehensive cocktail and mocktail menu.
Charleston Airport to get its first luxury airport lounge
  • South Carolina’s Charleston International Airport is reportedly in discussions with Airport Lounge Development of Plano, Texas, to come up with a 2,200-square-foot, luxury passenger lounge branded Club CHS. Access would be granted to travellers in airline loyalty programmes and holders of premium credit cards.
    Airport Lounge Development currently operates 17 lounges in 11 US airports, as well as two international lounges at London Heathrow.
Emirates begins Edinburgh flights
  • Emirates recently started its Edinburgh service from Dubai, marking its eighth UK destination and second in Scotland. It is a five-time-a-week service and the route is being served by a three-class B777-300ER.
    Hubert Frach, Emirates' divisional SVP Commercial Operations West, said at the time of flight launch: "Today's flight marks the start of greater connectivity and more convenience for leisure and business travellers from the wider Edinburgh area and locations further afield, such as Aberdeen and Dundee, to destinations across Emirates' global network via Dubai.
    "While for inbound travellers, particularly from cities in Asia and Australia, there is now a direct flight option to Scotland’s most visited city by tourists."
