Emirates to launch second daily flight to London Stansted Airport
  • Dubai's Emirates Airline has announced the launch of a second daily flight from Dubai (DXB) to London Stansted (STN). After the launch, which is planned for July 1, 2019, the Emirates' passengers will have access to 11 daily flights to and from three London airports. The flight will also be operated by Emirates' latest 777-300ER in a three-class configuration featuring cabins with newly designed seats and higher levels of comfort across 306 seats in the Economy Class, 42 fully-flat beds in Business Class and 6 private suites in First Class.

Loganair to launch Southend to Stornoway flights
From May this year, the Western Isles of Scotland will be connected with Southend Airport by Loganair operated flights. The airline will also start services between Southend and Aberdeen with effect from May 28 and is planning an Edinburgh link later this year. Stornoway flights will be the first connection from a Scottish island airport to London and will have a 53-minute train ride from Southend to Liverpool Street station in London. The flights will operate once every day from Monday to Friday and once on Sunday.

British Airways unveils 'Club Suite'
  • British Airways has unveiled its new business class seat, the 'Club Suite'. The airline will introduce the Club Suite on its new Airbus A350 aircraft which are set to begin services in July. The new suite will offer direct access to the aisle for every passenger, a suite door for greater privacy and luxurious flat-bed seats in a 1-2-1 configuration. Passengers will have 40 percent more storage that will include a vanity unit and mirror. There will be WiFi connectivity as well as 18.5-inch screens for in-flight entertainment.
Virgin Atlantic to begin London Heathrow to Sao Paulo flight
  • Virgin Atlantic has announced plans to introduce scheduled flight service between London Heathrow and São Paulo, Brazil in the year 2020. The 11 hr 55 min long flight service will be operated daily between London Heathrow and São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport. Sao Paulo will be Virgin Atlantic's first destination in the South American continent. The year round flights will be operated using Boeing 787 aircraft with Upper Class, Premium and Economy Delight, Classic and Light offering.
United Airlines opens new airport lounge at Fort Lauderdale
  • United Airlines' latest addition to its network of United Club Lounges is operational at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. This sprawling 5,000-square-foot Fort Lauderdale United Club is located near gate C1 and is first of the four new United Club lounges planned for 2019. The airline has plans to open United Clubs in the new terminal of New Orleans' Louis Armstrong International Airport as well as in Terminal B of New York's LaGuardia Airport and at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Guests will have access to complementary high-speed wifi and specially curated selection of local food and drinks.
JetBlue considers launching London to US Flights
  • One of America's top-rated airlines, jetBlue is planning to launch transatlantic flights between New York, Boston and London promising improved fares and services. The airline currently operates flights in the US, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the flights to London will be its first into Europe. The transatlantic routes have been traditionally dominated by British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, as well as the Air France-KLM, Delta alliance. JetBlue is expected to take a decision on the routes in 2019.
Royal Brunei and British Airways extend partnership
  • Royal Brunei Airlines has doubled the number of European destinations by extending its partnership with British Airways. The airline's network of European airports has grown from 11 to 23 including Rome, Brussels and Nice. British Airways will provide Royal Brunei passengers domestic connections through London Heathrow to a range of regional airports in the UK as well as airports in Europe. Passengers will receive boarding passes upon check-in and their bags will be checked-in through to their final destination. The two airlines partnered in 2014 with Royal Brunei commencing a non-stop Heathrow-Brunei flight last year.
Cathay Pacific opens yoga and meditation space at Hong Kong lounge
  • Hong Kong-based airline, Cathay Pacific has opened a dedicated yoga and meditation space at its popular The Pier Business Class Lounge. Named "The Sanctuary by Pure Yoga", the 700 square foot space is divided into two sections: The Body Sanctuary and The Mind Sanctuary - the former is devoted to yoga whereas the latter is being touted as a space where travellers can spend some time meditating. Travellers can practice yoga led by Pure Yoga trainers along with instructional videos.
Staycity Group's new resort-styled Paris Property opens in August
  • Dublin-based aparthotel company Staycity Group is all set to open its new resort-style property in Paris August this year. The Staycity Aparthotels Paris, Marne-la-Vallee features 284 apartments, 22 villas, café, restaurant, a swimming pool and gardens and is just 10-minute drive from Parc Disneyland® Paris, and with Parc Disneyland® Paris Golf within the immediate vicinity. Staycity CEO Tom Walsh said that while the resort will particularly appeal to leisure guests they expect 20 to 30 per cent of guests to be corporate travellers. For for business and conference use there are three meeting rooms and a break out area in the property.
