Emirates to introduce second daily service to Brussels
  • From 29 October 2017, Emirates will start an additional daily flight to Brussels, which will complement the airline's current schedule and provide a double-daily service to customers. The new flight EK181 will depart Dubai at 14:20 and arrive in Brussels at 18:45. The return flight EK182 will leave BRU at 20:15, landing in DXB at 05:55. The new flight will enable a convenient connection for passengers travelling to Indian Ocean and South African destinations with a quick transit through Emirates’ hub in Dubai.

Singapore Airlines launches a loyalty programme for SMEs
Singapore Airlines has launched a HighFlyer programme for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The programme is designed to reward both corporates and employees when they fly with Singapore Airlines and its subsidiary Silk Air. Under the new programme, the company will earn 'High Flyer' points while the employees will earn 'Kris Flyer' miles each time they fly.

Etihad introduces Airbus A380 from Abu Dhabi to Paris
  • Etihad Airways recently introduced an Airbus A380 aircraft on one of its two daily services between Abu Dhabi and Paris Charles de Gaulle. The aircraft replaces a Boeing 777-300ER that was previously operating the airline’s overnight service to the French capital. Mohammad Al Bulooki, Etihad Airways' Executive Vice President Commercial, said: "The A380 has presented a unique opportunity to provide the signature services and innovations that only Etihad Airways has been able to create for this incredible aircraft. These include revolutionary cabins such as The Residence, and First Apartments - jewels in the crown of our First Class offering, which was recently recognised again with three coveted Skytrax World Airline Awards at the Paris Air Show."
Manchester Airport reports 12% rise in passengers
  • According to a recent report, record numbers of passengers travelled to both long-haul and short-haul destinations from Manchester Airport in May, with 2.5 million jetting off in the month. Among the most popular destinations (all seeing a rise in passenger numbers compared to the same month last year) were Berlin, Hamburg and Alicante. Other airports across the country also saw an increase in passenger numbers with Stansted reporting a 7% rise, whilst passenger numbers at East Midlands and Bournemouth grew by 3.9% and 4.7% respectively.
Air Canada Rouge starts its non-stop Vancouver service from Gatwick
  • Air Canada Rouge has launched a non-stop Gatwick-Vancouver service. The airline will operate three flights a week to Vancouver International airport, until October 7. This is the carrier's second seasonal route from Gatwick after it launched the Toronto service last summer. A 282-seat Boeing 767 will be used to operate the service. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, the flight departs at midday and arrives in Vancouver at 2.10pm. The return service will depart Vancouver at 4.45pm, arriving at Gatwick at 10.25am the following day.
Aberdeen Airport opens Northern Lights Executive Lounge
  • Aberdeen International Airport, Scotland, recently opened its new Northern Lights Executive Lounge. The lounge has 50% more space than the previous facility, and flaunts an interesting décor and a locally-sourced menu. Carol Benzie, Managing Director at Aberdeen International Airport, said, "We are very excited to be working in partnership with Compass Group and many local suppliers to present our new Northern Lights Executive Lounge. The lounge has been designed with Aberdeenshire in mind and will offer passengers a much heightened quality of experience."
Star Alliance Los Angeles Lounge voted Best Alliance Lounge at Skytrax
  • The Star Alliance Lounge at Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) at Los Angeles Airport was voted the best Alliance Lounge at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. This is the third consecutive time the alliance has received this accolade. Christian Draeger, Vice President Customer Experience Star Alliance, said: "We could have not received a better present for our Alliance's 20th Anniversary. Getting this accolade three years in a row is testament to the fact that we have a fantastic team operating and managing our LA Lounge.
Etihad wins three key awards for its First Class at Skytrax
  • Etihad Airways was presented with the awards for the World's Best First Class, Best First Class Onboard Catering, and Best First Class Airline Seat at the annual Skytrax World Airline Awards. Linda Celestino, Etihad Airways Vice President Guest Experience Delivery, said: "This is a great honour for us - particularly as these awards mark the culmination of a global consumer satisfaction survey of millions of travellers around the world. Our First Class experience is unlike any other and has been tailored around exact requirements of those who wish to enjoy a truly bespoke hospitality experience, with the finest in-flight dining and amenities, incomparable levels of privacy and the genuine warmth and care for which we are known.
Emirates' to introduce a new First Class product in November
Emirates airline has recently announced that its new First Class product will be showcased at the Dubai Air Show in November. Emirates' new First Class cabin will make its debut on board a Boeing 777-300ER and will feature 6 private suites laid out in a 1-1-1 layout. In addition, Emirates’ new Boeing 777-300ER will boast a several new features in the Business and Economy Class cabins.
Choice Hotels launches "We mean Business" for corporate travellers
Choice Hotels, one of the world's largest hotel groups, has launched a new business platform, "We mean Business", for the corporate travel managers. The hotel group says it will help improve travel budgets and traveller engagement. The company plans to do so by opening new upscale properties and expanding to top business markets with 6,500 hotels all over the world. Its corporate travel management offerings will be showcased at the 2017 Global Travel Association Convention in Boston this month. "Choice continues to expand the breadth of our services to meet the needs of business travellers. We are excited to showcase our improved benefits to corporate travel managers at the world's largest business travel event," said Tom Disantis, Vice President of Sales Strategy and Operations at Choice Hotels.
