New York named world's top destination for business travel
  • New York is named the leading destination for global business travel for the fourth consecutive year. London and Paris are at 2nd and 3rd place respectively while Shanghai has advanced to the fourth spot. Singapore (6th), Hong Kong (8th), and Tokyo (9th) are the other Asian cities among the top ten business travel destinations. Toronto (5th), San Francisco (7th), and Chicago (10th) complete the top ten. Other cities in the top 20 destinations are Dubai, Mexico City, Boston, Montreal, Beijing, Los Angeles, Mumbai, Sao Paolo, Casablanca and Seoul.

London Heathrow hits 80m passenger mark in 2018
A record breaking 80 million passengers travelled through Heathrow last year, up 2.7% on 2017. Heathrow is one of the seven airports in the world to achieve the 80 million annual passenger milestone. The airport says the use of larger and fuller aircraft boosted the growth.
CEO John Holland-Kaye said: "2018 has been an exceptional year for Heathrow, with record passenger numbers and service levels, and with MPs voting overwhelmingly in support of expansion. We are on track to deliver an expanded Heathrow in the early years of Brexit, which will keep Britain as one of the world's great trading nations."

Finnair to expand London-Helsinki capacity
  • Finnair is increasing the number of seats on its London Heathrow-Helsinki route for the summer of 2019. The airline is going to achieve the higher capacity by switching to an A330 on its existing flight that departs Helsinki at 1600 and returns 1810. Besides, a new daily service will be launched on the route to add to the capacity. The new flight will be operated by an A320 family aircraft that will depart Helsinki at 1140, with the return flight leaving London at 1350 local time. Finnair will launch the flights on 31 March.
Hampton by Hilton opens at Edinburgh Airport
  • Hampton by Hilton has opened its first property at Edinburgh airport. The hotel is located within walking distance of the main airport terminal and features 240 bedrooms across its six floors. Hampton by Hilton Edinburgh Airport has a gym, business centre and 24-hour food service. ┬áHampton by Hilton has 28 properties in the UK, including at Luton, Bristol and Stansted airports.
    Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive at Edinburgh Airport, said: "We're delighted to welcome Hampton by Hilton as our latest hotel partner at the airport. They are a worldwide name who will enable us to provide an even greater range of facilities for passengers flying in to or out of Edinburgh."
Emirates has a new lounge at Rome's International Airport
  • Emirates opened a new lounge at Rome's Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, replacing the old one. Situated in departure Terminal 3, Level 2, the new lounge offers views over the runway and a direct boarding facility and seats 162 passengers. All Emirates' First Class and Business Class customers, as well as Skywards Platinum and Gold members, travelling on the airline's two flights a day from Rome to Dubai will have complimentary access to the lounge.
British Airways announces plans to upgrade Premium Economy
  • As part of its £6.5 billion investment in services, British Airways have announced new improvements to its World Traveller Plus premium economy cabin. The upgrades include new menus from February 1. There will be a third main meal menu option as well as a 'more substantial' hot meal later aboard its flights. From the Spring, the airline will also have new amenity kits, quilts and pillows in the World Traveller Plus cabin. Carolina Martinoli, BA's director of brand and customer experience, said: "This latest tranche of our £6.5 billion investment is set to improve World Traveller Plus and customers will see a real change to the cabin."
United Airlines opens new Polaris lounge at LAX for business travellers
  • United Airlines recently opened a new lounge at Los Angeles International Airport. Located in Terminal 7, the lounge is accessible to passengers flying in the airline's business class. The lounge offers more than 12,000 square feet of space and has a seating capacity of up to 140 seats across its different areas. Hundreds of power outlets and USB ports, as well as shower suites, private daybeds and restaurant-quality dining at The Dining Room are some of the highlights of the lounge.
London City posts record-breaking passenger numbers in 2018
  • A record number of 4,800,190 travellers passed through the London City airport in 2018; the volume of annual passengers comprises both arriving and departing customers. This is a 6.4 percent increase in passengers compared to 2017 and is the highest ever recorded number of passengers for the airport.
    Robert Sinclair, chief executive of London City Airport, said: "As we take forward a transformative £500 million development programme, which will be complete in 2022, London City Airport can play a much bigger role supporting this thriving international city, connecting London with established and emerging markets and serving a broader range of both leisure and business passengers."
Eurostar adds third daily Amsterdam service
  • Keeping in mind the strong customer demand on the route, Eurostar will offer a third daily service from London to Rotterdam and Amsterdam from 11 June. The new service departs London at 1104 Monday to Friday and arrives in Amsterdam at 1611 local time.
    Mike Cooper, CEO of Eurostar, said: "Our new route to the Netherlands has been met with strong demand from customers, who increasingly value the ease, comfort and seamless experience of high-speed rail. A third train each day will boost capacity whilst offering more choice and flexibility to travellers connecting between these European cities."
Norwegian to offer free Wi-Fi on long-haul flights
  • Norwegian aims to enhance the flying passenger for its long-haul customers with the introduction of in-flight Wi-Fi service on its growing long-haul fleet. The airline has introduced free and premium high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity on the carrier's Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and 737 MAX aircraft, making sure that Norwegian customers flying between Europe, USA, South America and Asia stay connected in the skies.
