Our monthly newsletters are created to bring to you the latest travel updates from the UK and other parts of the world, as well as developments in the business travel industry, which can affect your corporate travel and decisions related to travel management. Emirates set to launch daily flights to Dubai from London Stansted
  • Emirates will run daily flights to Dubai from London Stansted Airport from 8 June, making it the first Middle Eastern carrier to operate from the airport. The airline will use a Boeing 777 on the route, with six first class seats, 42 business and 306 economy seats. The introduction of these new daily flights will mean Emirates now offers 10 daily flights to Dubai from three different London Airports, London Heathrow and Gatwick being the other two.

Air India likely to provide laptops to business class passengers
In a bid to attract business class passengers, India's state-run carrier, Air India is considering providing laptops to its premium travellers. The move is seen as an attempt to improve the airline's passenger load factor or seat occupancy in business class. Air India's Chairman and Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola said: "In our long haul flights business class can be a money spinner for Air India. Our passenger load factor is only 50 per cent on these flights. We will try to see how to increase that, perhaps offer better quality of services. If our in- flight entertainment is not doing well, then we are thinking of alternatives. Laptops to business class passengers is a possibility."

New Hotel Indigo opens in Antwerp
  • Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) recently opened its first Hotel Indigo in Belgium. The hotel, located in the city centre of Antwerp, has 82 guest rooms and offers complimentary Wi-Fi access, in-room Nespresso machines and an onsite restaurant called QA's Kitchen. It is the 24th Hotel Indigo property in Europe, with many more to open over the period of next five year. Upcoming hotels include properties in Aldgate and Leicester Square in London.
Fiji Airways opens Luxe Premier Lounge
  • Fiji Airways has unveiled a new premier lounge for its business and first class flyers. The state-of-the-art business class lounge at Nadi International Airport has a seating capacity of 200 guests and promises a world-class lounge experience as well as a dedicated family area, a Quiet Zone and a Media Room which can also be used as a private meeting space.
Etihad Airways to deploy Boeing 787 Dreamliner on Casablanca route
  • Etihad Airways will operate Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the Abu Dhabi - Casablanca route from 1 May 2018. The Moroccan city will be the first North African destination to be served by Etihad Airways' 787 Dreamliner. The aircraft will feature eight First Suites, 28 Business Studios and 199 Economy Smart Seats and will replace the Airbus A330s currently operating on the route. Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, said: "We are delighted to deploy our flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner on yet another route that will give even more guests the opportunity to experience our next generation aircraft".
    "In addition to maintaining attractive timings for guests travelling between Abu Dhabi and Casablanca, we will create further suitable connections in many markets that will benefit more travellers."
Dubai's Gevora Hotel set to become the world's new tallest hotel
  • Standing at 356 metres, Gevora Hotel is set to become the world's new tallest hotel, displacing the current record holder, Business Bay's JW Marriott Marquis by just one metre, as per reports in media. The 528-key hotel, set on Sheikh Zayed Road, will be open in the first quarter of the year. Gevora Hotel will have four restaurants, in addition to swimming pools for adults and children, a Jacuzzi facility, a health club, a luxury spa, and gymnasiums.
Hilton brings its Curio Collection hotel to Stratford
  • Hilton is coming up with a new property in De Coubertin Street, close to Stratford International station. London Gantry, part of the Hilton's Curio Collection, is due to open in 2020 and will feature 285 rooms across 18 storeys, and will also include a sky bar with views across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and beyond.
Japan Airlines named world's most punctual airline
  • The world's most punctual airlines have been revealed in a new report with Japan Airlines grabbing the top spot in the 'mega airline' category with an on-time performance of 85.27. All Nippon Airways, the largest airline in Japan, was named the second most punctual followed by Delta Air Lines which operates 5,400 daily flights was named in third place. Closer to home, British Airways grabbed tenth spot whilst low cost giant easyJet was named the world’s 15th most punctual airline.
London Luton Airport records busiest year
  • London Luton Airport has welcomed 15.7 million passengers in 2017, marking a rise of 8.6 percent when compared with the previous year and making 2017 the airport's busiest year on record. 2018 is expected to be an exciting one as well with the airport celebrating its 80th anniversary. It will witness the official opening of the newly extended terminal building, which will offer passengers access to a range of shops and restaurants, as well as a new boarding pier with eight new boarding gates.
