Applehouse Travel partnered with ST Sports - Presents Memorable Cycling Tours
  • Applehouse Travel is launching a new collaboration with ST Sports presenting “Memorable Cycling Tours” during the Business Travel Show (Olympia, London) on the 26 and 27 February 2020. At Stand B730, the program will be presented with four different cycling tours on offer. Our tours will let you experience extraordinary sea views and unforgivable gastronomic experiences in Italy, stunning scenery and wildlife in South Africa, untouched nature in Vietnam and palm fringed beaches and ruins of ancient kingdoms in Sri Lanka. British Airways to increase flights to winter sun hot-spots from London Gatwick British Airways has announced to offer more flights to winter hotspots including St Lucia, Cape Town and Cancun from London Gatwick. With two weekly services added to St. Lucia, British Airways will soon be the only airline flying from the UK to the island since Virgin Atlantic has announced to stop its service on the route after 8 June 2020; customers will have option to choose from nine flights per week. There will be an extra weekly service to the Mexican holiday capital, Cancun from 6 December 2020, taking the number of weekly flights operating to Cancun up to six. The airline will offer two extra flights per week from London Gatwick to Cape Town.

Virgin Atlantic announces to re-launch flights to Cape Town
  • Virgin Atlantic has announced to re-launch its daily seasonal flights between London Heathrow and Cape Town on October 25. The carrier’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will operate the flights and this new route will complement the airline’s existing daily service to Johannesburg. The route was originally operated from 1999 until 2014. The airline’s VS478 service will operate as a night flight departing from Heathrow at 16:20 and landing in Cape Town at 05:55 whereas the inbound VS479 will depart from South Africa at 08:00 and land in London at 18:00.

France’s Accor and Visa form partnership for loyal credit card Accor - France’s multinational hospitality group has announced a global partnership with Visa – the global leader in digital payments aiming at bringing new payment experiences for Accor Live Limitless (ALL) loyalty members. It will make members applying for the new ALL Visa card able to use it for all purchases where Visa is accepted. The hospitality group will also be collaborating with Visa partner financial institutions and banks in prime markets across Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and North and South America to issue the new ALL Visa card. The members will also be able to earn more loyalty points while staying at an Accor property or while making purchases.

Eurostar announces to run direct Amsterdam-London services
  • The high-speed rail link between the UK and mainland Europe, Eurostar has announced to launch a direct service from Amsterdam to London on April 30. The service has been started with the aim of passengers not needing to go through passport control in Brussels on the return journey; and it will operate fully direct service both to and from the Netherlands. The direct journey from Amsterdam to London will be of 4 hours and nine minutes, and will start with two flights a day with stops in Rotterdam and Brussels. The flights will depart Amsterdam Centraal at 07:48 Monday to Saturday and at 18:48 Sunday to Friday.
Virgin Atlantic, Delta and Air France-KLM launch new joint venture
  • Virgin Atlantic, Delta and Air France-KLM have launched an expanded joint venture bringing with it a wonderful choice of routes and loyalty options for passengers when travelling between Europe, the UK and North America. The new agreement ensures passengers a smooth and consistent travel experience with offering more convenient flight schedules and the flexibility to book flights on any of the four airlines. It will cover up to 341 peak daily trans-Atlantic flights across 110 nonstop routes, and there will be onward connections to 238, 98 and 16 cities in North America, Europe and the UK respectively. In addition, loyalty members can earn and use miles, and can enjoy elite benefits for flights on any of the four carriers’ worldwide operations.

British Airways announces to launch Newquay route for summer 2020 British Airways has announced to fly between London Heathrow and Newquay’s Cornwall Airport for summer 2020. It will be the only direct route to Heathrow and will be an addition to the already announced new routes for summer 2020 to Greece, Italy, Kosovo, Montenegro and Turkey. The flights will be operated by an Airbus A319 on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from July 2 to September 7. Passengers can be rest assured that the airline offsets carbon emissions on each of its flights within the UK since it has committed to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Teesside to regain London link after 11 years
  • Previously Durham Tees Valley airport, Teesside International airport in north-east England is soon to add six new routes across the UK, along with its first direct flights for 11 years. Flybe franchise partner Eastern Airways has introduced twice-daily flights to London City Airport as a part of the collection of new services in addition to the routes to Southampton, Dublin, Belfast City, Cardiff and the Isle of Man. The new routes will add to the existing service of Eastern Airways between Teesside and Aberdeen. Cardiff flights will be operated five times per week started on 10 February, and then there will be six functional flights per week each to Dublin and Belfast City, as well as double-daily flights to Southampton from March 9. The London route will start on April 27, followed by a seasonal service to the Isle of Man starting on May 30.

Qantas begins New London Baggage Partnership with Airport Qantas has unveiled its partnership with luggage service Airportr in London. The service, available in the London and Manchester regions, is known to have handled 137,947 bags across several airlines since its launch in 2016. The partnership aims at providing passengers a world-class, convenient baggage experience when departing/arriving from/in London Heathrow. An Airportr driver will save Qantas passengers travelling in a flight with a QF code from the hassle of getting in the airport queues and travel light by collecting the bag from them at a time and place as per their suitability. The service is already in operation and has currently partnered with seven airlines including Virgin Atlantic, American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, easyJet and Finnair.
