The new flight will depart Brunei at 1950 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and land in Brisbane at 0445 (local time) the following day. Phil Cameron, Chief Executive, No1 Lounges, said: "We are proud to be opening a bigger, better No1 Lounge at Edinburgh Airport, bringing the airport's passengers a greatly improved lounge experience, genuine pre-flight luxury and excellent value."
American Airlines' Phoenix-London service is now year round
  • Thanks to high demand, American Airlines has expanded its nonstop service from Phoenix to London Heathrow even before the maiden flight took off on the route. It was earlier planned to be a seasonal service from March 31 to October 26 but after strong bookings over the summer months it is now expanded to a year-round route. American Airlines will use a Boeing 777-200ER with 273 seats and three classes of seats - business, premium economy and main cabin – on the route.
Virgin Atlantic to launch Heathrow -Tel Aviv flight in September
  • Virgin Atlantic will start flights to Tel Aviv from September 25. The airline will use A330-300 for the daily flight from London Heathrow and will have a seating capacity of 31 seats in Upper Class, 48 seats in Premium Economy and 185 seats in Economy Class.

Air India starts bidding system for upgrade to business class
  • Air India has announced a new bidding system allowing passengers to upgrade their economy class seats to business class by paying an additional fare. As per the airline, passengers have to bid for only the incremental value over what they have paid for the economy class ticket. The airline has put a cap on the minimum bid that one can make.
"After the check-in is complete, which means when the passenger is moving towards the security check, the system sees how many business class seats are vacant. And then, the system allots the seats to passengers according to priority (high bid to low bid)," Air India's Chairman and Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola said. Passengers who are upgraded are given revised boarding pass for the business class seat at the boarding gate.
This new bidding system has been started on flights operating to the US, Europe, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong.
Qatar Airways to increase summer schedule from UK & Ireland
  • Qatar Airways will expand its flight frequency from the UK & Ireland to Doha by 17 flights per week ahead of the summer season. From June 29th London Gatwick will also see three flights every day. Edinburgh will have ten weekly flights to Doha from July 1st and Dublin will have 11 flights per week from July 1st.
Qatar Airways senior vice president, Europe, Sylvain Bosc, said: "We have been exceptionally pleased by the level of demand for our service to and from our UK and Ireland destinations."
"We look forward to welcoming even more passengers aboard in the coming months and taking them to enjoy holidays and business trips in unrivalled comfort."
