The world's busiest airports over Christmas revealed
  • According to a research, Beijing International Airport will be the busiest airport in the world over the Christmas period with almost 1.7 million passengers passing through the airport between December 21 and 25. Dubai International will be the second busiest airport over the Christmas period (1.58m passengers) with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta the third busiest airport (1.48m). The UK's busiest airport, London Heathrow will see a whopping 1.18m through its terminals over the festive season.

Qatar Airways offers Qsuite business seating on Singapore flights
Qatar Airways is now offering Qsuite business class cabin on flights to and from Singapore. These seats, available for flyers on the airline's Airbus 350-1000, can be converted into a double bed and feature adjustable panels as well as movable in-flight entertainment screens on the centre four seats. It is currently offered on two of the three daily Doha-Singapore services. Qsuite is already available on Doha-London flights operated by Qatar Airways.

American Express to open Centurion Lounge at London Heathrow
  • American Express will open its first Centurion Lounge in Europe, at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 3 in 2019. After Hong Kong, it will be the second Centurion Lounge outside the USA. The lounge will offer amenities like private workspaces, shower suites and spa services. In addition, American Express announced new lounges at Denver International Airport, Los Angeles International Airport, New York John F. Kennedy Airport and Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
LOT to run Vilnius-London City flights
  • LOT Polish Airlines will be operating direct flights between Lithuania's capital Vilnius and London City airport. The airline is awarded the contract to operate the flight by the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport. The service is expected to begin on 1 May 2019; LOT will offer 12 flights in a week, with two flights available Monday to Friday and one on Saturdays and Sundays. The airline will also launch flights from London City to Warsaw and Budapest in 2019.
Qatar Airways wins 'Best Business Class' honour
  • Qatar Airways' Qsuite was named 'Best Business Class' in the AirlineRatings' Airline Excellence Awards 2019. Also, the airline's dine-on-demand in-flight meal programme was named 'Best Catering'.
    Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: "Our patented, revolutionary Qsuite has left an indelible impression on passengers who have experienced it, and we are delighted that the editors at AirlineRatings concur. Qsuite represents our commitment to innovation and exceptional passenger experience as it continues to set the global benchmark for the Business Class experience."
Staycity opens new property in Dublin
  • Staycity opened its fourth aparthotel in Dublin with the launch of a 50-apartment property on the capital's Chancery Lane recently. The new property has 49 studio apartments, accommodating up two guests, and one two-bed apartment that can accommodate up to 4 people. There's an onsite cafe serving drinks and snacks as well as laundry and 24-hour reception.
Delta expands pre-select meal programme to all Delta One business class flyers
  • Delta's pre-select meal option will soon be available on all Delta One routes, expanding the food option to more business customers flying between the U.S. and Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and South America. Delta One is the airline's latest offering to its business-class cabin featuring lie-flat beds and sliding doors for privacy.
    "Customers continue to tell us how much they value having control over their in-flight experience," said Lisa Bauer, Delta's vice president of on-board services. "Giving more customers the ability to choose their meal in advance is yet another way we're elevating the onboard experience based on direct feedback."
Flybe to add fifth daily Edinburgh-Heathrow flight
  • Flybe will launch a fifth daily flight from Edinburgh to Heathrow, boosting connectivity between the two cities. The new flight will begin from 31 March 2019 and will depart Edinburgh at 1200 and land in Heathrow at 1345. The return flight leaves London at 1430 and arrives at 1605.
    Gordon Dewar, CEO of Edinburgh airport, added: "The addition of another flight means passengers will have greater choice and flexibility when travelling between two of the UK's capital cities, which is good news for those on business or leisure trips. The domestic market is one that is consistently popular at Edinburgh airport and we're glad that Flybe has added to their offering to increase connectivity between Edinburgh, London and beyond."
Air Canada opens Maple Leaf Lounge in New York-LaGuardia Airport
  • Air Canada recently unveiled the Maple Leaf Lounge at LaGuardia Airport in New York City. The new lounge, located after security near Air Canada's gates, has a business centre and serves refreshments, and has a capacity for up to 126 customers. Business travellers can make use of the lounge's cyber counter, which is equipped with PCs and colour printing and offers complimentary Wi-Fi access.
    "We are excited to welcome Air Canada and Star Alliance eligible customers to our new LaGuardia Airport Maple Leaf Lounge, which has been created to enhance the overall travel experience for our premium customers," said Andrew Yiu, Vice President, Product, Air Canada.
Best airlines in the world for 2019 revealed
  • New research has revealed the BEST airlines in the world for 2019 with multi award winning Singapore Airlines grabbing top spot. The new rankings from AirlineRatings.com grades airlines on safety and in-flight experience and rated Singapore Airlines as the best in the world. Air New Zealand grabbed second place followed by Australian flag carrier, Qantas.
