Virgin Atlantic reveals details of its much awaited Airbus A350-1000 aircraft
  • The aircraft features an entirely new Upper Class cabin with a brand new suite and social space. The airline has is the first to introduce an on-board bar. Passengers can enjoy the on-board social space called The Loft, the largest social space in the airline's fleet, where they can sit, chat, choose from a variety of cocktails or enjoy a wide range of delicious new dishes. Other facilities include bluetooth headphones as well as 32" TV screen. The cabin will also have an entirely new suite where every seat will face towards the window and have deployable privacy screens; 18.5" in-flight screens are the airline's largest ever screens and come with intuitive new system controllable by guests' own personal device. Every suite has a 44" pitch, with up to 82" long fully flat bed. Red Velvet, the airline's first A350, will start services from late summer this year.

Qatar Airways has been awarded for "Best Cabin Service"
Qatar Airways has had a very successful month of April as the airline industry saw this middle-east carrier on an award winning spree across a variety of categories. In the PAX International Readership award held in Hamburg, Germany, Qatar Airways was awarded for 'Best Cabin Interior Passenger Experience' and also received the 'Best In-Flight Duty Free Programme' award for the Middle East, third time in past four years. The airline also won the 'Best Middle East Economy Class Amenity Kit' award. Besides, the airline won two accolades at the 2019 Onboard Hospitality Awards in Hamburg, Germany, including 'Trendsetter of the Year' award' for its versatile Tasting Platter, an express dinner option aimed at optimising rest and sleep on overnight flights from Europe.

British Airways has announced to launch its shortest flight
  • British Airways announces to launch a 54-mile, 50-minute flight to Dammam, Saudi Arabia from Bahrain. This will be the airline's shortest flight to date and its third destination in Saudi Arabia, after Jeddah and Riyadh. The airline operates many short flights with very big planes, but this is the shortest with even quicker return travel of just 40 minutes. The flight will be an extension of the existing route from London's Heathrow Airport to Muharraq, Bahrain; and it will use a 777-200 for the route, featuring first, business, premium economy and economy. With effect from December 1, tourists travelling from London will have the option to continue their journey on the same plane to Dammam's King Fahd International Airport.
Delta and Virgin Atlantic to serve Gatwick – Boston/New York JFK
  • Transatlantic joint venture partners Virgin Atlantic and Delta have announced plans to launch flights to Boston and New York from London Gatwick. The flights will commence in summer 2020; and full schedule and fare information will be announced by the end of this year. However, it has not been declared whether the routes will be served by Virgin or Delta aircraft, or both. These flights will be operating from the North terminal, where Virgin Atlantic recently unveiled a new check-in area and Clubhouse.
Stansted Airport to launch a new route to Copenhagen
  • Scandinavian Airlines has started its new service from London Stansted (STN) to Copenhagen (CPH) on April 8. The new route will operate five times per week, increasing to a daily return service from July 1, 2019. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday the flights will depart from CPH at 12.20 arriving in STN at 13.10; departure from STN will be at 14.00 with arrival in CPH at 16.45. On Sundays the flight will depart CPH at 13.10 and arrive in STN at 14.00; departure from STN 14.50 and arrival into CPH at 17.35. These flights from Stansted add to its existing London Heathrow to Copenhagen route which is offered five times daily.
UK's Manchester Airport to open new pier in Terminal 2
  • Manchester airport in UK has opened a new pier at its Terminal 2 connecting to it as a part of its £1 billion transformation programme. This 216m pier features 11 gates and bridges and over 1,400 seats. The airport said that the pier was designed with over 300 individual glass panes so as to offer panoramic views of the airfield. It will be used by all airlines currently operating out of T2 and will gradually be used by more and more flights once it becomes fully operational. A new multi-storey car park for which the construction began in July 2017 has also opened along with the pier.
Second Art'otel to open in London
  • Park Plaza Hotels Europe Group is set to begin the construction of Art'otel London Hoxton – the brand's second property in the capital. The construction of this £180 million development project is set to begin this summer; and it is planned to open in 2023. It will be a 27-floor building with 343 guest rooms and suites along with five floors of office space. There will be a restaurant, bar, lounge and gym at the top storeys offering views of the London skyline. The ground floor will feature escalators leading to a mezzanine for the reception and a second restaurant, and the lower ground levels will have a gallery space that will be hosting a rotating calendar of exhibitions, as well as cultural and artistic events.
ANA receives its first Boeing 787-10 between Tokyo and Singapore
  • Japan's largest airline, ANA has received its first Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner ahead of Singapore, Bangkok deployment. It will be put into service on April 26 on the Tokyo Narita-Singapore Changi route followed by Tokyo Narita-Bangkok Suvarnabhumi on July 1st. The airline is now the Asia-Pacific's first carrier operating in all variants of the 787, including the -8, the -9 and the new -10. There are three Boeing 787-10 Dreamliners in the order book of ANA that are expected to be received by the end of March 2020.
