British Airways set to increase Mauritius flights from London Gatwick
  • BA will increase the frequency of its flights from London Gatwick to Mauritius. The UK's flag carrier will add a further two weekly flights from London Gatwick for the winter 2017-18 season, bringing its total to five per week. Also, the airline confirmed that flights to the Peruvian capital of Lima will cease on Oct 29 and will resume in March 2018.

Korean Air to fly its two largest passenger jets to London Heathrow
Korean Air, the flag carrier of South Korea, will have a mixed fleet for its London Heathrow route, comprising its 407-seat Airbus A380 and 368-seat Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental. This will make it the first airline to fly the passenger version of the 747-8 to Heathrow. "The UK market is now spoilt for choice for travel between the UK and Korea with the two aircraft operated by Korean Air on the route," said Korean Air’s Sales Manager for the UK & Ireland, Peter Barron.

Turkish Airlines offers "eXPhone" service in flight
  • Turkish Airlines has introduced new in-flight mobile connectivity through "eXPhone" for an uninterrupted communication on board. By making use of this new service, passengers will be able to send text messages (excluding voice messages), check their e-mails and browse Internet (including social media platforms) on their own mobile phones.
Lufthansa unveils a new lounge at Boston Logan
  • Located on the top floor of the Logan International Airport's Terminal E, the lounge can seat up to 162 people and offers views of the Boston waterfront. It is open to the airline's business and first class customers, and those with elite mileage status. Premium passengers and status members of other Star Alliance airlines that fly out of Boston, including Turkish and SAS, can also use the lounge.
Virgin Atlantic launches first flights from Manchester to San Francisco and Boston
  • Travellers from Manchester Airport can now fly direct to the US cities of San Francisco and Boston with Virgin Atlantic. On 28 March, the airline started the three times weekly service to San Francisco (SFO). The next day, it started a twice-weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays) route to Boston (BOS). Also, from 25 May, the airline will begin daily flights to New York JFK from Manchester.
Marriott opens the first London property under its Moxy Hotels brand
  • Marriott, the American hospitality group, has opened the first London property under its Moxy Hotels brand. Moxy London Excel is located on Dockside Road and offers 164 rooms with 42-inch LCD TVs, free Wi-Fi access, USB ports and deep-seated armchairs. Also, it features a meeting room, a gym, photo booth inspired hotel lifts, and self-service dining concept 24/7. Moxy has another property in the UK at Aberdeen Airport.
Budget airline Ryanair to launch flights to the US
  • Ryanair, the low-cost airline is planning to collaborate with another budget carrier, Norwegian to offer transatlantic flights to customers. While the routes are yet to be confirmed, flights to different UK cities including New York, New Jersey and Boston are expected to begin.
Radisson Blu Edwardian London Heathrow unveils new meeting space
  • Much to the delight of business travellers, Radisson Blu Edwardian London Heathrow has launched a new meeting space. The "Brain Box" room will boast technology such as Clickshare, a USB-enabled device enabling you to share presentations, and Squiggle Glass, a magnetic glass writing board. Moreover, it will feature 65-inch touch screens, VGA and HDMI cables for presentations, and Skype.
British Airways starts nonstop flight from London to New Orleans
  • British Airways has launched a new direct flight between London and New Orleans. BA is offering a four-times-a-week service from Heathrow. Nicolas Krohne, Vice President of Sales for British Airways said, "We are honoured to be able to connect New Orleans with London Heathrow and the 130 plus destinations that British Airways flies to across Europe and beyond. With a favourable exchange rate and special fares available, Britain has never been more affordable." The airline will use the three-class Boeing 787-8 on the route.
Qatar Airways' business class 'QSuites' feature double beds
  • Qatar Airways unveiled its highly anticipated new Business Class product at ITB Berlin. The customisable private suites, named QSuite, features the industry's first-ever double bed in Business Class, with panels that stow away, enabling passengers in adjoining seats to have their own private room.
